ONTARIO PUBLISHES REGULATION UPDATE

Ontario publishes regulation update to require pension funds to disclose if the consideration of environmental, social and governance factors is reflected in the plan’s investment policy and practice. The logic being that it would nudge pension funds (as has already happened in Australia, UK, Sweden, France, Germany, and South Africa) to better integrate environmental, social and governance factors into investment policy and practice, which is an important way of building long-term wealth for pension funds and other institutional investors.
